About C&G Mortgages & Remortgages

Cheltenham & Gloucester offers 46 different residential mortgages. On 19th May 2008 the company announced an across-the-board 0.25% rise in rates, blaming the well-publicised "credit crunch".

So what are the leading deals from C&G today?  Starting with fixed rate mortgages: a 5-year fixed rate for loans up to 75% LTV (loan-to-value) now starts at 6.10%.

If you need a higher LTV percentage, but still want a fixed rate, the next best C&G option is the 3-year fixed at 6.44%.  However, the unseen benefit of this deal is its tiny fee – just £99.

Variable rates are available from 6.34%, which is offered on the lifetime of the mortgage (up to 80% LTV) or for 2 or 5 year periods (up to 90% LTV).

Cheltenham & Gloucester's Standard Variable Rate is a little better than most lenders, though: it's been rounded off at 7%.

It's a complex scenario and the whole of the market is changing swiftly – we suggest you speak to an adviser for a cross-market comparison today.

Offset Mortgages

Cheltenham & Gloucester's offset mortgage, in collaboration with Lloyds TSB, allows the borrower to run a mortgage alongside a current account. This opens the possibility of paying off your mortgage early, saving a considerable amount of money that would normally have been spent on interest rate payments.
