What is a HIP?

Published on 30.01.2008

The Home Information Pack is nothing to get too worried about although it will cost you £250 - £350 and is compulsory for all residential property sales.

You have to have a HIP on order before you're allowed to place your property on the market

The Pack includes an Energy Performance Certificate, containing advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills. Also included are documents such as a sale statement, searches and evidence of title.

In my opinion the HIP is best organised by a Solicitor (not an Estate Agent) and many weeks can be shaved off your sale time by going down this route.
