Post War

World War II had a huge effect on housing in the UK and led to a dramatic shortfall in both money and manpower available to build houses.

Because of the urgent need to re-house thousand of returning troops, many houses were built using pre-war designs hence the similarities between 30s and 50s property.

Moving on into the 60s, new styles emerged, especially the concrete tower block! It also led to new designs and experiments but nothing really changed in domestic architecture.
