Review of Rutland

Rutland is England’s smallest county. Rutland is bordered by Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire. Despite Rutland’s small size the county boasts a population of approximately 37,000 people with around 98 percent of the population recorded as White.

Rutland boasts a large man-made lake named Rutland Water and several rivers as well. The lake is a favorite destination for locals and visitors as well. The rivers include the River Chater, Eye Brook, the River Welland, and the River Gwash.

Rutland’s main economic industries are service related. The region boasts a booming economy and has very few pockets of poverty within the county. There are several major employers in the region including two Ministry of Defence bases, two public schools and two prisons as well.

The county boasts several places of interest despite its small size. Some popular places in Rutland include Barnsdale Gardens, Rutland County Museum, Oakham Castle, Tolethorpe Hall, Burley on the Hill and Oakham Buttercross. Other interesting sites are the Rutland Railway Museum, Clipsham Hall and Lyddington Bedehouse.

Rutland has much to offer within its 16 miles wide and 11 miles long area. There are many popular buildings in Rutland but the area is probably more famous for its natural beauty.
