Blyth is a market town situated on the North East coast of England in the county of Northumberland. Its heritage is of ship building and mining and evidence of this can still be seen.

Blyth is flanked by Whitley Bay to the South , Morpeth to the North and Cramlington to the West.

The town centre is currently undergoing major development in the market place and judging by the artists impressions , this will be a magnificent central focus of Blyth.

The harbour area has also recently undergone major regeneration which makes for a pleasant stroll along the river.

In the town centre itself there is a new undercover shopping mall as well as many other shops , stores and supermarkets.

There are plenty pubs , clubs and restaurants in the town centre for young and old alike and whether its Chinese , Indian , Italian cuisine or fish and chips you fancy , youll be spoilt for choice.

Blyth park which is just off the town centre has recently been redeveloped and during the summer months is a major draw for locals and visitors alike. The park has two play areas for older and younger children and a water feature which is second to none. There are two bowling greens and two tennis courts for the more energetic visitor and the park is kept clean and litter free by the squad of park keepers.

On the outskirts to the West is Blyth golf course ,there is also a well equipped sport centre with adjoining 25m swimming pool and toddlers pool.

There are many playing fields situated around the town which are used frequently by the many football teams in the area ( both boys and girls ). Lets also not forget Blyth Spartans AFC for the football supporters out there.

Blyth has several nursery , first and middle schools in various locations around the town and a community college for all of the towns 13 - 18 year olds.

Housing in Blyth is made up of the town centre which has several housing estates emanating from it , all of which are linked up with the bus service which run direct to the bus station in the centre of town.

I personally have lived on the outskirts and in the town centre itself and would has a bit of something for everyone. Whether its a night out , a pleasant walk or merely a browse around the shops youre looking for Blyth has it all.

House prices are below the national average and whether its a large town house to a terraced flat , youll find them all in Blyth.

One mile further up the coast is the harbour and the beach which is clean and sandy but the water is slightly cooler than the Med.
