Review of Surrey

Surrey County is located in South East England and boasts a population of approximately 1,000,000 people. Surrey is bordered by Greater London, Berkshire, Kent, Hampshire, East and West Sussex. Surrey’s county town is Guildford.

Surrey’s residents tend to be more affluent than some of the surrounding areas. Many residents commute to nearby regions to work. The main industry in Surrey is service oriented. Surrey is not a largely agricultural area but it does provide many opportunities for outdoor recreational activities.

There are several large towns located in the County of Surrey including Guildford, Woking, Camberley, and Ewell. Other significant towns in Surrey include Ashford, Epsom, Redhill and Farnham.

Surrey provides an excellent opportunity for higher education. The county is home to two universities including the University of Surrey located in Guildford and the University of London located in Egham.

There are many cultural and historic sites in Surrey. Sites such as Guildford Cathedral, Clandon Park, the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Hatchland’s Park, Oakhurst Cottage and the River Wey are popular destinations for both locals and tourists. There are many other cultural and natural sites in Surrey.

Surrey provides several sporting opportunities. The most popular sport in the area by far is cricket. The origins of cricket are dated back to Surrey. Surrey is also home to the Surrey Cricket Club.

Surrey’s culture and charm has been well documented in literature. Some examples include references to Surrey in the Harry Potter series, War of the Worlds and the book the Brave New World. There are also numerous references to Surrey in various films as well.
