Review of Isles of Scilly
The Isles of Scilly form an archipelago consisting of six islands and approximately 140 islets located at the southwestern tip of England. The Isles of Scilly boast a population of approximately 2,100 people with almost 100 percent of the population being recorded as White.
Traditionally, the Isles of Scilly have relied on many unique industries to sustain the local economy. Some of these industries include kelp harvesting, fishing, and smuggling. In recent years, the region’s economy has seen a shift to flower farming. Currently, tourism is the main contributor to the areas economic wealth.
The Isles of Scilly attract many tourists each year due to the mild climate, friendly locals, tourist friendly environment and great transportation provisions. St. Mary’s is well-equipped with tourist amenities and attracts many visitors.
Transportation to and from the islands is achieved either by air or by boat. There are two air services available including helicopter services. Transportation services on the island are very reliable.
The Isles of Scilly have officially been declared an ‘Area of Outstanding natural Beauty’. The declaration includes the entire area including the smaller and uninhabited islands. Some of the islands support seals, birds, shrews, and other rare species.
Residents of the Isles of Scilly tend to be very active in sports. Popular sports on the islands include gig racing and football. The region tends to be more physically active and sports oriented than most other parts of England.
Houses for sale in and by the Isles of Scilly area include houses, cottages, bungalows apartments and flats. Houses in the Isles of Scilly region include a range of styles and prices. Properties in the Isles of Scilly area are highly sought after. Apartments/Flats in the Isles of Scilly area are more readily available. Homes in this area provide excellent access to the surrounding cities and many local historical sites.
